Claire Rahmatallah
Managing director

What were you doing before you joined
The Future Work Centre?

I’ve worked as a marketing and communications professional in the field of occupational psychology for over 15 years. During that time I’ve seen many changes in how organisations apply and get value from occupational psychology – including the impact of technology and the growing awareness of the important relationship between an employer and its people.

What excites you most about your role?

I’m really excited about making our research findings and guidance accessible and meaningful, so people and organisations can make more informed decisions. And I’m hoping we can inspire people along the way to ask more questions and be curious about evidence, whether that’s at work or home.

Why is an evidence-based approach important?

Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m not one to take things at face value! I think it’s really important to ask questions and to be curious to know more. We’re flooded with information and advice, so being able to distinguish good from bad is critical. An evidence-based approach helps us all make decisions that deliver the right outcome.

What does work mean to you?

Work has meant different things to me during my career. Having my own family, for example, has given me a balanced perspective on work and also changed how and where I work. One of the main things I get from it is working as part of a great team to create something, be it an idea, a product or an organisation like the Future Work Centre.
