If you were standing at a fork in a path, and the path was well-trodden in one direction but overgrown in the other – which would you choose? Probably the well-trodden one, right? That’s how many of us make decisions. Whether it’s what diet to follow or how to shine at work, we follow what other people have done and what we read and hear is ‘best’ – without any evidence that it’s going to work for us.

The same thing happens when people make decisions in organisations. And because these decisions affect lots of people, the impact of making a ‘bad’ one can be huge.
